Marlene Kay Einspahr, 81, of Arcadia passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024; at Kinship Pointe Northridge Assisted Living Center in Kearney, Nebraska.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2024; at the Arcadia Methodist Church. Reverend Matt Fowler will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Arcadia Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Church. Memorials are suggested to the Arcadia Methodist Church or the Arcadia Fire and Rescue Department. Marlene Kay was born October 23, 1942, at Topeka, Kansas to Harold E. and Marjorie I. (Norris) Elliott. At the age of two the family moved from Topeka to Arcadia where Marlene received her education and graduated from Arcadia High School in 1960.
Following high school Marlene lived in Lincoln for a year while working at the State Capitol for the Nebraska Department of Roads. On June 11, 1961, she was united in marriage to Keith E. Einspahr at Arcadia, Nebraska. To this union four children were born. In the mid 1970’s Marlene began working outside the home; first at the Arcadia Café and then was the editor of the Arcadia Guide and later at the Sherman County Times and Arcadia Service Center. She retired as the secretary of the Twin Valleys Parish United Methodist Churches. Marlene served as an EMT for 33 years on the Arcadia Fire and Rescue Department.
She was a member of the Methodist Church; where she was involved in adult Sunday School, United Methodist Women and Challengers Circle. She belonged to the Arcadia American Legion Auxiliary and “The Pinochle Club”.
Marlene enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cribbage and had a love for all animals. She especially enjoyed attending the various activities her family was involved in and also caring for the elderly in their homes.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Keith of Kearney, formerly of Arcadia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Penny Jo and Kevin and Kay all of Arcadia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Rob Smith of Broken Bow and Debbie and Jeff Miller of Loup City; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert “Bob” Elliott of Arcadia; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Margene Bossen of Arcadia and Judy and Mert Crockett of Creighton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Billy Elliott; brother-in-law, Dick Bossen; and sister-in-law, Toni Elliott.
