In Lincoln, Nebraska, authorities state that a 45-year-old Lincoln resident fired shots at officers on Tuesday at a gas station in the northwest area of the city.
According to the Lincoln Police Department, the man entered the Casey’s located at Northwest 12th Street and West Cornhusker Highway around 8:30 p.m., placing a gun on the counter.
Police Chief Michon Morrow mentioned that they do not believe it was an attempt at robbery.
The man opened fire at the initial officer to arrive, who returned fire in response, as per police reports.
Meanwhile, two store employees took shelter in a rear room as the exchange of gunfire persisted between the man and the police, Morrow explained.
“Our responses were in reaction to his actions,” she stated.
