In Grand Island, Nebraska, Fonner Park had to cancel the final five races on Saturday due to an internet issue.
According to CEO Chris Kotulak, races six through 10 had to be called off because their system for processing bets and payouts went offline. Kotulak mentioned that the vendor responsible for this service, AmTote, attributed the problem to one of its internet service providers.
The Paulick Report, a horse racing industry news outlet, noted that tracks across the country, including those in Florida and California, experienced similar difficulties.
The system was restored around 7 p.m. on Saturday, and Fonner Park staff worked overnight to fix the betting terminals. By late Sunday afternoon, Kotulak confirmed that Sunday’s races proceeded as scheduled.
