Former captain of Scottsbluff police department enters a guilty plea for felony charges

SCOTTSBLUFF, The former police captain, Brian Wasson, 52, pleaded guilty to two felony theft charges, admitting to unlawfully taking over $5,000 from the department’s evidence room. His bond was set at 10% of $5,000, with sentencing scheduled for April 23 in Scottsbluff. Wasson resigned from the department in September 2023. Court records show that between March 5, 2021, and April 15, 2023, he took drugs and money from the evidence room.
