Evelyn J. Wampole, 94, of Ord passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell, Nebraska.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024; at the Ord Christian Church. Pastor Doug Durre will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday prior to the service at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Ord Christian Church. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Evelyn J. was born February 22, 1929, on a farm near North Loup, Nebraska to Clifton and Ferne (Anderson) Severance. She grew up in Valley County and received her early education at District #42 and Olean schools and then attended North Loup High School. Later in life she received her diploma through GED courses.
On August 4, 1946, Evelyn was united in marriage to Marvin D. Wampole at Ord, Nebraska. To this union two children were born. The family lived in Ord, Gibbon and Lexington. Evelyn worked in the Curler Factory at Burwell from 1975 to 1980. In 2018, Evelyn moved to the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.
She had a love for cats and horses; and horseback riding. Her Siamese cat was very special to her; living to the age of 17. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to California to visit her son, David. Evelyn crocheted and made crafts.
Evelyn was a devoted Christian, and was baptized in 2000; at Anderson Island in Ord. For 24 years she attended the Assembly of God Church and later became a member of the Ord Christian Church.
Survivors include a son, Dale Wampole of Bellevue; a sister, Caroline Kinney of Burwell; a brother, Gene Severance of Texas; a sister-in-law, Barb Severance of Greeley; 3 step grandchildren; many step great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin who passed away on August 2, 2001; a son, David; daughter-in-law, Monica; two brothers, Donald and Cecil “Bob” Severance; three sisters and four brothers-in-law, Marie and Duaine Kazeck, Donna and Fred Marshall, Alice and Bill Wetzel, and Don Kinney; and a sister-in-law, Darleen Severance.
