Donald “Orv” Wiberg, 85, of Ord passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023; at the Arbor Care Center in Ord.
Mr. Wiberg’s wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2023; at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Pastor Kyle Campise will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Family or Donor’s Choice. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements (www.ordmemorialchapel.com).
Donald Lee was born March 7, 1938, in Burwell, Nebraska to Ralph B. and Leona M. (Jurzenski) Wiberg at Burwell, Nebraska. He was raised in the Burwell, North Loup and Ord areas; receiving his early education at a country school north of North Loup and graduated from Ord High School in 1955.
Following high school Don lived in California for a short time then returned to Ord. On August 23, 1958, he marred Patricia Houser. To this union three daughters were born, Kimberly, Shara and Christine. The family resided in Omaha where Don worked at Hesteds, Corbaly Shoe Store and sold wallpaper in downtown Omaha. Don established his own wallpaper hanging business that he operated throughout the 1970’s.
In 1977, Don and his family relocated to Colorado until 1997, when he returned to Nebraska. Don and Dianne (Russell) Knaub were married on March 2, 2000, at North Platte, Nebraska. They have made their home in Ord for the past 7 years.
Don was a member of the Porter Lodge AF & AM Masons of Loup City, Signet Chapter #55 North Platte OES. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gambling and going to the horseraces and garage sales.
Orv will be remembered by his great personality and his quick wit.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne of Ord; four daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly and Roger Newquist and Christine and Mark Blaha all of Ord, Shara and Dave Pfahler of Maricopa, AZ, and Mindy and Toby Bellar of Norman, OK; 17 grandchildren, Shana and Trent LaChance, Charlie Christensen, Caleb and Katie Newquist, Zachary Newquist, Nick Pinell, Alex Pinell, Addison Blaha, Deidre and Aaron White, Devan Barnes, Danielle and Justin Wrobleski, Cory Knaub, Casey and Talyah Knaub, Blake and Erin Lathert, Dagan Bellar, Dalton Bellar, Grayson Bellar, Grayson Bellar and Justice Bellar; 18 great-grandchildren Maliki, Hayden, Autumn, Grey, Rainna, Elias, Dorothy, Ruby, Piper, Gavin, Domanik, Raiden, Brantley, Kajun, Isabel, Laramie, Will, and Dakan; a sister Betty Marie Piskorski of Omaha; sister-in-law, Cheryl Backius of Keystone, NE; and many nieces, nephews and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Brad Knaub; a daughter, Missy Bancroft; grandson, Andrew Christensen; great-grandson, Roger Pinell; brothers-in-law, John Piskorski and Bernie Backius.
