Butch married Jeanne’ (Rush) Stout on July 5, 1969 in Taylor, Nebraska and they moved to the Stout Ranch to begin their fifty-three years of marriage. Butch raised cattle and horses and worked for area ranchers until moving into their town house full-time in 1984. He worked at Kamp Kaleo outside of Burwell for several years and took great pride in that facility and the friendships made while there.

He was a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association and was proud to have a corral full of colorful horses at the time of his passing.
Butch enjoyed rodeo and was a director on the Nebraska’s Big Rodeo Board & Garfield County Fair Association for over thirty years. He worked the rodeo arena track fence every year since his retirement from the board. Butch also worked at the Burwell Livestock Market for fifty-one years and was horseback there until the end. He had many great friends and memories of his time at the salebarn.
