
Frank L. Lewin, 75, of Ord passed away Friday, July 30, 2021, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Garrett Kahrs will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Military Honors will be presented by the Ord VFW Post #7029 and American Legion Post #38. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Please dress casual and Husker attire is encouraged.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society and the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Frank Lynn, son of Floyd A. and Helen F. (O’Neill) Lewin was born October 9, 1945, at Broken Bow, Nebraska. He spent his childhood in Comstock. He attended Comstock High School, excelling in basketball and graduating in 1963.
Frank served in the United States Navy as a Machinist Mate 2nd Class from September of 1964 to May of 1970. He was stationed on the USS Bainbridge and served two tours of duty off the coast of Vietnam. He was also aboard the USS Hornet that picked up the Apollo 12 Astronauts in the Pacific in 1969.
On July 15, 1967, Frank was united in marriage to Jean “Jeannie” Hoevet at Elyria, Nebraska. To this union five children were born. Frank and Jeannie raised their children on the family farm near Arcadia, Nebraska and later moved to Ord.
Frank enjoyed farming, woodworking and was an avid sports fan.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Jeannie of Ord; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Mark and Dusti of Scottsdale, Arizona, Dale of Kearney and Craig of Lincoln; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shannette and Tim Kahrs of Franklin and Gale and Jesse Nelson of Ord; ten grandchildren, Aiden, Jordan, and Cade Lewin, Dalen Lewin, Garrett (Talia) Kahrs, Kersha Kahrs; and Nikie, Crew, Knox and Bo Nelson; a great-granddaughter, Malaki Kahrs; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Butch and Maxine of Aurora and Robert and Ellen of North Charleston, South Carolina; and a sister, Marianne Lewin of Bakersfield, California.
