The Village of Lynch is one of six applicants who have been approved for disaster housing recovery funds through the Nebraska Affordable Housing Trust Fund, following the March 2019 floods. A total of $500,000 in NAHTF grant funds were awarded to Lynch on September 9, 2019. Additional matching funds totaling $100,000 from Nebraska Farm Bureau, Nebraska Bankers Association, and Nebraska Preparedness Partnership bring the project total to $600,000.
The funds will be used to construct three manufactured homes for rent, rehabilitate a minimum of 6 homes that are owner- or tenant-occupied, and demolish dilapidated structures all outside of the floodplain. Households must meet the program’s annual household income limit of 120% of the Area Median Income.
“On behalf of the Village of Lynch, we appreciate the State’s quick response in allocating funds towards disaster recovery for housing. Our goal is to assist Lynch in rehabilitating their housing stock, and to provide additional rental housing so that individuals and families can return to Lynch,” says Judy Petersen, Executive Director of the Central Nebraska Economic Development District.
