Tasha Laura Baxter, 34, of Burwell, Nebraska died June 19, 2019 at her home.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2019 at the First Congregational Church in Burwell, Nebraska. Burial will be in the East Park cemetery in Ainsworth, Nebraska. Pastor Alan Petersen will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 – 7 p.m. at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell. Memorials are suggested to the Burwell FFA or 4-H to be distributed for annual scholarships.
Tasha was born January 1, 1985 in Ogallala, Nebraska to Robert and Edica (Passyka) Baxter. They moved near Ainsworth where Tasha attended grade school in Brown County until the fifth grade. The family moved to Burwell and Tasha graduated from Burwell High School in 2003. She then received her associate’s degree from NCTA College in Curtis, Nebraska. While in school she was active in 4-H and FFA, where she earned the Dekalb award her senior year. She enjoyed horses, rodeoing and roping in the USTRC events. She was always active in her church wherever she lived. She was confirmed at the First Congregational Church in Burwell.
After graduating from Curtis, she worked two years in the banking industry at Nebraska Land Bank in North Platte and Tier One Bank in Burwell. She then moved to Kearney where she became a brand inspector for two years, until moving to Ogallala where she started trucking for her brother-in-law. She moved to Scottsbluff and started trucking on her own in 2013 when she had an accident. For the next two years she had many eye surgeries and rehabilitation until her eyes were good enough to get her CDL license again. During this time, she worked as a brand inspector again. In 2017 she started trucking for her dad.
Tasha is survived by her parents, Bob and Edica Baxter of Burwell, Nebraska. Two sisters, Tracy and Tim Pore of Elsie, Nebraska and Tina and Brad Welton of Burwell, Nebraska and nieces and nephews. A special friend, Heath Wilken of Smithfield, Nebraska.
Tasha was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ross and Lillie Baxter and Wes and Nadia Passyka. A cousin, Brandon Lucht and two uncles, Jim Passyka and Milton Baxter.
