At approximately 12:50 pm on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 a two vehicle accident involving a 2001 Peterbilt semi-trailer and 2005 Chevy GMT pick-up occurred about one mile outside of Ord, Nebraska on HWY 11 headed south towards North Loup.
According to Valley County Sheriff Casey Hurlburt, 29 year old Nick Boss, driving the Chevy “was slowing down to turn around” on hwy 11. The semi, which was hauling a fully loaded grain trailer driven by 68 year old Les Jantz, not seeing any turn signal or break lights come from the Chevy, started to pass, colliding with the Chevy. The semi turned over in the ditch and on the roadway along with the Chevy pick-up damaged from the collision.
Both drivers were transported to VCHS and released with minor injuries. No seatbelts were in use.
Valley County Sheriff’s Department, Ord Fire and Rescue, SGS and Kramers towing responded to the scene.
The NDOT assisted at the scene, directing traffic.
