Just before 5:00pm on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 the Brown County Sheriff’s department received a call of a subject suffering a gunshot wound in rural Long Pine.
27-year-old Nathan Yankowski of Long Pine, Nebraska was charged in the shooting death of 18-year-old Logan Maring of Merna, NE.
Maring was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering a gunshot wound. Yankowski was arrested at the scene by the Brown County Sheriff’s Office and charged with second-degree assault and involuntary manslaughter.
Brown County Ambulance Association assisted at the scene. The Nebraska State Patrol is aiding in the investigation of Maring’s death.
