Salina Jane Jensen, 66, of North Loup passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at the Nebraska Heart Hospital in Lincoln.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at the North Loup United Methodist Church. Pastor Bonnie Brock will officiate. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery at North Loup. Visitation will be on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the North Loup United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Loup Valley Memorial Wall in North Loup or the North Loup Volunteer Fire Department .Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Salina Jane Jensen was born November 4, 1952, in Norton Kansas to Cletus and Lucille (Shearer) Elson; the third of seven daughters born to the family. She attended school in Almena, Kansas and graduated from the Northern Valley High School in 1970.
Following high school Salina attended the Grand Island School of Business graduating in 1971. After college she was employed for ten years at E & K Drywall in Grand Island. During this time she met her husband-to-be Lonnie. On May 18, 1974, she was united in marriage to Lonnie Jensen in Grand Island, Nebraska. In 1978, the family moved to North Loup, Nebraska and in 1980, Salina began her thirty-five year career with the North Loup Valley Bank.
Salina enjoyed secretarial/bookkeeping work and continued to work in this capacity, following her retirement from the bank, as Secretary for the Village of Cotesfield. She also enjoyed shopping, gardening, horse races; and above all else spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Lonnie; a son Corbin Jensen; a daughter, Angela Jensen all of North Loup; five sisters; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Terry and Kathy Jensen of North Loup and Lana and Larry Kolar of Elyria; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Nels and Betty Jensen; and one sister.
