Laura L. King, 85, of Ord passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at the Rose Lane Home in Loup City.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at the Bethel Baptist Church in Ord. Pastor Kyle Campise will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Bethel Baptist Church or Loup Valley Camp of the Gideons International. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Laura Louise King was born March 8, 1934, in Nance County, Nebraska the daughter of Paul and Faye Opal (Kurth) Eggli. She was raised on her family farm in Nance County, and then her family moved to a farm in Platte County near Columbus for a brief time.
Following the death of her mother, her father quit farming and joined with the Union Pacific Railroad as a bridge painter. She moved back to Nance County to live with her maternal grandparents, Samuel and Laura Ann (Poole) Kurth of rural Genoa. She was a 1952 graduate of Fullerton High School.
On May 22, 1955, she was united in marriage to Harold King at Cairo, Nebraska. They made their home on a farm in the Mira Valley area of Valley County near Ord.
In September of 2010, after 55 years on the farm, she moved to Grandview at Ord and in September of 2015 she made her home at Rose Lane in Loup City.
Laura was a Charter Member of the Evangelical Free Church in Ord, an auxiliary member of the Gideons, and in later years attended Bethel Baptist Church in Ord. She enjoyed animals, gardening, cooking, letter-writing, and loving her family.
Laura received Jesus as her personal Savior on September 9, 1956. She loved the Lord with all her heart. Her key scripture is Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”; and her favorite hymn was, “It is No Secret.”
Survivors include her son, James of Ord; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Cal Williams of Warren, OH; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Thor Jordan of Chambers; son, Alan of Ord, grandchildren, Jackie Stoltenberg and Matthew (Lisa) King; Trevor (Erica), Tyler, and Trenton (Katie) Williams; Andy, Julie and Clint Jordan; great-grandchildren, Calvyn, Brody, Evyanna, Ryker, Tucker, and Silas with another expected in June; one sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Tom Connelly; nephews, Michael and Russell Connelly; in addition to other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold King; her parents; parents-in-law, Irving and Esther King, and his second wife, Bernice King; grandparents, Samuel and Laura Ann (Poole) Kurth, and Johann and Louisa (Gerber) Eggli; and niece, Rhonda (Connelly) Johnson.
