Grace E. Mulligan, 94, of North Loup was called home to her Lord on Friday, April 26, 2019, at Tiffany Square Care Center in Grand Island.
Mrs. Mulligan was cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2019, at the United Methodist Church in North Loup. Pastor Bonnie Brock will officiate. Private Inurnment will be in the Hillside Cemetery at North Loup. The family will greet friends at the North Loup Community Building following the church service. Memorials are suggested to North Loup United Methodist Church, UMC Nebraska Flood Relief Fund or the Family’s Choice. The family requests no flowers, please. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Grace was born December 2, 1924, to Sterling and Lula (Jackman) Manchester. She grew up and lived her entire life in the North Loup area. She graduated from North Loup High School in 1942.
Grace was united in marriage to Dale Mulligan on January 17, 1943, at Ord, Nebraska. To this union one son, Larry was born. Grace was a homemaker her entire life. The couple made their home on a family farm established in 1886, located 3 miles west of North Loup until 1990, when they moved into a home in North Loup built in 1955, by her father-in-law, Lee.
Grace was baptized and a member of the North Loup United Methodist Church and served numerous years on the church council and was a member of the church Sunflower group. Other clubs she belonged to were; Progressive Extension Club, Fortnightly, BP Women’s and Red Hats. She also served many years on the Valley County election board and various Popcorn Days committees.
She loved reading, ceramics, embroidery, and coffee with friends. Most of all she loved being with her family and attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities. She was able to attend all of their graduations from high school except for her last great-grandchild.
Grace is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Len Mulligan of Doniphan; three grandchildren, Shawn (Stephanie) Mulligan of Hastings, Shelly Ballard of Lincoln and Shane (Sandy) Mulligan of Colorado Springs; five great-grandchildren, Blake, Bailly and Zoey Ballard and Hannah and Elijah Mulligan; and two sisters-in-law, Donna Manchester of California and Janice Mulligan of Lincoln.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale; brothers and sister-in-law Everet (Ethel) Manchester, Jerold Manchester; a sister and brother-in-law, Harriet (Jewel) Crouch; brother-in-law, Carrol Mulligan; and sister-in-law, Eva Brabander.
