Earl Ernest “Tom” Rowse, 84, of Burwell, Nebraska died at his home on January 31, 2019.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2019 at the United Methodist Church in Burwell, Nebraska. Inurnment will be in Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell. Memorials are suggested to the Friends of The Library. Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell is in charge of arrangements.
Tom Rowse was born February 1, 1934 in Burwell, NE to Ernest and Goldie (Hodgson) Rowse. He attended grade school and high school in Burwell, graduating in 1952. After graduation he worked for the Jack and Jill Grocery Store. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Ann Lola, on December 31, 1953. He entered the U.S. Army in 1956, taking basic training in Ft. Smith, Arkansas and then served in Germany until his discharge. In 1957 Mary Ann joined him and they lived in Wurzburg, Germany for one- and one-half years until his discharge. They returned to Burwell and he went to work for Loup Valley Alfalfa until 1962 when he started carrying mail until 2002 when he retired.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Buzz and Gene and two sisters, Eloise and Elinor and one brother-in-law, Flip Buhrman. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, a sister in law, Lenabelle Rowse and several nieces and nephews.
