Arlene Joyce Kraus, 87, of Burwell, Nebraska died March 18, 2019 at the Brookestone View Nursing Home in Broken Bow, Nebraska.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the Loup County Event Center in Taylor, Nebraska. Burial will be in Kent Cemetery. Pastor Mike Carl will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from 5 – 7 p.m. at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell. Memorials are suggested to the Loup County EMT’s or the Kent Cemetery.
Arlene was born October 20, 1931 in Loup County, Nebraska to Melvin and Delphia (Dilsaver) Stone. She lived in the Madison Square area with her brothers and sisters. Arlene graduated from Taylor High School in 1949. She then went to normal training and earned her teaching certificate. She taught a year at Knobby Ridge and two years at Milburn.
Arlene married Robert “Bob” Kraus on March 21, 1953 in Taylor. They lived on the Kraus home place in Loup County.
Arlene attended the Assembly of God Church in Taylor. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting and flowers.
Arlene is survived by her husband Bob Kraus of Burwell, Nebraska. Four children; Roger and Jeanette Kraus of Stapleton, Nebraska, Kenneth and Laura Kraus of Milburn, Nebraska, Susan and Jim Robertson of Montrose, Colorado and Kathy and Casey Allen of Taylor, Nebraska. Twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Ada and Wade VanDiest of Taylor, Nebraska and Emma and Ray Beard of Charleston, South Carolina. Two sisters-in-law, Lois Stone of Taylor, Nebraska and Geraldine Olsen of Florence, Arizona.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws, Buck and Vera Kraus and two brothers, Roland and Darrel Stone.
