Dorothy Francis Prickett, 93, of Burwell, Nebraska died March 14, 2019 at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 18, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Burwell. Burial will be in Kent Cemetery. Fr. Mark Maresh will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 – 7 p.m. at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to 4 The Cure.
Dorothy was born April 29, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska to Walter and Gertrude Markhofer. She went to high school in Omaha and went on to college to become a Registered Nurse.
Dorothy married Clarence “Rip” Prickett on June 28, 1948 in Omaha, Nebraska. They lived in Scottsbluff, except for a year that they lived in Omaha while Rip went to Barber School. While living in Scottsbluff she worked as a case worker with the county welfare office; while, raising her three boys. In 1974 they moved to a ranch north of Scottsbluff. Then in 1982 they moved to Rose, Nebraska where they ran the Rose Bar and Trading Post. In 1992 they retired and moved to Taylor, Nebraska.
Dorothy enjoyed knitting, crocheting and making afghans. She was a member of the Catholic Church.
Clarence died on July 24, 2009.
Dorothy is survived by three sons and their wives, Rex and Barb Prickett of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Dale and Peggy Prickett of Burwell, Nebraska and Tim and Tanya Prickett of Moses Lake, Washington. Five grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a granddaughter, Traci Prickett, two brothers, Walter and Merl Markhofer and a step-sister, Lillian Sharman.
