Jessica Danielle (Ritter) Petersen, 34, of Burwell, Nebraska died March 12, 2019.
Visitation will be Friday from 5 – 7 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burwell. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burwell, Nebraska. Burial will be in Kent Cemetery. Pastor Jon Franson will officiate. Memorials are suggested to the family. Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell is in charge of arrangements.
Jessica was born August 25, 1984 in West Point, Nebraska to Patrick and Linda Ritter. Jessica graduated from West Point Central Catholic High School in 2003. She graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 2007 with a degree in Horticulture. After graduation Jessica worked at the Bluebird Nursery in Clarkson.
While at UNL she met Kurt Petersen and they married on October 9, 2010 in Fremont, Nebraska. They lived at Hooper, Nebraska. In 2013 they moved west of Burwell to farm and ranch.
Jessica was a dedicated mother and thoroughly enjoyed her children. She loved gardening, all flowers, puzzles, and collecting music boxes. She enjoyed keeping track of the cows on the four-wheeler and helping Kurt with the many farm and ranch duties. She enjoyed participating in sports while in high school and college. Jessica was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Pleasant View Community Club, Burwell area MOPS, Buds in Bloom garden club, and the Ladies Book Club of Taylor.
Jessica is survived by her husband Kurt Petersen of Burwell, Nebraska and their four children, Carter Glen, Natalie Ann, Samuel Patrick and Madeline Naomi. Her mom, Linda Ritter of West Point, Nebraska and seven siblings, Kandace and Jon Budler of Lincoln, Nebraska, her twin brother, Jason Ritter of Lincoln, Nebraska, Eric Ritter of Guide Rock, Nebraska, Jarrod and Christine Ritter of Lincoln, Nebraska, Amanda Ritter of Haddam, Kansas, Travis Ritter of Norfolk, Nebraska and Tyler Ritter of West Point, Nebraska. Her father and mother-in-law, Glen and Judy Petersen of Burwell, Nebraska, a brother-in-law Brian and Sarah Petersen of Arlington, Nebraska, a sister-in-law Jill and Clayton Hensley of Fremont, Nebraska, and nieces and nephews.
Jessica was preceded in death by her dad, Patrick Ritter and grandparents, Agnes and Richard Rupprecht and Rudolph and Ornitha Ritter.
