Mary Lou Petersen, 75, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2025, after a brave fight with cancer, surrounded by her family in Hawaii.
Born on February 22, 1949, in Loup City, NE, Mary Lou grew up in a large family in Arcadia, NE. She attended Arcadia Public School where she was involved in cheerleading, pep club, softball, and volleyball.
Mary Lou loved music, gardening, horses, baking, and cooking. She was a devoted supporter of her children’s and grandchildren’s activities and enjoyed playing games like pitch and dominoes.
She worked in the specialty clinic at Jennie Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow, NE for 25 years and was known for her compassion and caring nature.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Mary Lou’s name to support causes close to her heart.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, January 31, at United Methodist Church in Arcadia, NE, followed by interment at the Arcadia Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Thursday, January 30, from 5-7 pm at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Govier Brothers Funeral Home.
