Gladys Marie Nolte, 89, of Ord entered eternal life on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Brookstone in David City, Nebraska.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church in Ord, Nebraska. Pastor Kyle Campise will officiate. Interment will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Ord First United Methodist Church or Ord Volunteer Fire and Rescue Unit. Ord Memorial Chapel is assisting with the arrangements. Gladys Marie Rice was born March 28, 1935, to Floyd W. and Eunice M. (Burson) Rice on a farm in Dixon County near Allen, Nebraska.
The Rice family moved to Valley County in 1945, where Gladys attended country schools until they moved into Ord in 1947, when she was in the 8th grade. She graduated from Ord High School in 1952.
On June 6, 1954, Gladys was united in marriage to Stanley Nolte at the Ord First United Methodist Church. To this union three daughters were born, Danette, Diane, and Darla.
Gladys worked at J.C. Penney in Ord and the R.E.A. office in Ord as a Billing Clerk for a few years. She then assisted her husband, Stanley, with auctions until he retired as an Auctioneer, at which time they both retired from the auction business.
Gladys joined the Mira Valley EUB Church in 1947. She later became a member of the Ord United Methodist Church.
Gladys enjoyed embroidering and sewing for the family. She was a member of the Guided Mrs. Extension Club, a Girl Scout leader, 4-H leader, and was the Treasurer for Ord Senior Classics for 20 years until she retired from the position after moving to Grandview Assisted Living in Ord.
Left to mourn her passing are her daughters and sons-in-law, Danette (Roger) VanEpps of Papillion, Diane (Keith) Dunker of Rising City, and Darla (Jon) Waldron of Aurora, Colorado; grandchildren, Matt (Casey) VanEpps of Downers Grove, Illinois, Eric (Emily) VanEpps of Nashville, Tennessee, Brad (Kayla) Dunker of Cedar Bluffs, and Laura (Matthew) Goding of Gretna; great-grandchildren, James VanEpps, Tanner Dunker, Lucy VanEpps, and Karleigh Dunker; a sister, Gale Studnicka of Ord; and many other relatives.
She was preceded in death by Stanley, her husband of 69 years; parents, Floyd and Eunice Rice; parents-in-law, Theron and Laura Nolte; two brothers and two sisters and their spouses, Harold and Mary Rice, Marvin and Eva Rice, Grace and Clarence Hansen, Doris and Arnold Sperling; and brother-in-law James Studnicka.
