Deborah Sue was born September 5, 1950, at Ord, Nebraska to Carol B. and Vivian J. (Zikmund) Williams. She was raised in Ord where she received her education and graduated from Ord High School in 1968.
On New Years Eve of 1967, Deb met the love of her life, Trevor D. Fischer at Oscar’s Palladium in Sargent, Nebraska. They were united in marriage on December 28, 1968, at the Presbyterian Church in Ord, Nebraska. Following their marriage they lived in Miami, Oklahoma while Trevor attended college. They returned to Nebraska and lived in Lincoln while Trevor attended UNL and Deb worked at Aide Insurance. In 1971, their first son, Todd, was born in Lincoln.
In the summer of 1971, they settled in Ord. They went into the car business with Trevor’s parents, Bud and Helen. In 1975, the couple was blessed with twins, Mia and Tye. Deb enjoyed being a stay-at-home Mom and was the bookkeeper for Bud’s Used Cars and Fischer Auto. In the early 80’s, Deb designed, and the family built their current home where they have made many memories. Deb loved decorating her home for the seasons and holidays, especially Christmas.
Deb expressed her artistic talents by baking and decorating cakes for many occasions. She dedicated her time volunteering in many capacities. When her kids were young, she helped with reading at the elementary school and currently she was involved at the Second Hand Rose and the Ord Food Pantry.
Deb was an active member of the Ord Christian Church and the women’s group. She served on the Ord Township Library Foundation and worked on the Valley County Election Board for 50 years.
Deb had a strong faith and a deep love for her family. She and Trevor became inseparable after retirement and enjoyed going out to eat and visiting with their Arby’s friends. She was most proud of her children and grandchildren, enjoying all their activities, and family get-togethers. She enjoyed cooking, collecting cookbooks and shopping.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of nearly 56 years, Trevor of Ord; two sons and daughters-in-law, Todd and Kara of Ord and Tye and Amy of Seward; a daughter, Mia Fischer of Ord; her six grandchildren, Katie and Maggie Fischer, McKenna Soncksen and Ava, Nya and Jax Fischer; a brother, Daris Williams of Loup City and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Janet and Monty Philbrick of Ord.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother David Williams; and two uncles, LeRoy and Buck Zikmund.
