A former top cornerback prospect is no longer part of the Nebraska football team’s future plans. Redshirt freshman defensive back Syncere Safeeullah has been removed from the Nebraska football roster, as confirmed by a team official on Monday.
Safeeullah did not play in any games during his time with the Huskers, having redshirted the 2023 season. He was listed on Nebraska’s roster before the season and was included for the Huskers’ season opener against UTEP but was absent in the following weeks.
A tall and athletic cornerback, Safeeullah spent a year with the IMG Academy postgraduate team before joining Nebraska. He was recruited as part of the 2023 class by former defensive backs coach Evan Cooper.
With his departure, Safeeullah becomes the third member of Nebraska’s 2023 recruiting class to leave the program, joining linebacker Eric Fields and defensive back Ethan Nation.
