Police in Grand Island have apprehended a man linked to last month’s theft at the Grand Island Cemetery, where two urns containing cremated remains and a decorative floral vase were stolen from a mausoleum. The theft, reported on May 23, was investigated after authorities were tipped off on May 27 about a vehicle possibly involved in the incident. Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered evidence related to the theft. The vehicle’s owner, Richard Boon, was subsequently arrested on multiple charges, including burglary and illegal handling of human remains.
