Alvin Lee Bose, 84, of Ord passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024; with his family by his side at the Valley County Health System in Ord, Nebraska.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 3, 2024; at the Evangelical Free Church in Ord. Pastor Doug Olson will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Flag Fund at Aubles Pond. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be left at www.ordmemorialchapel.com
Alvin Lee was born July 21, 1939, on the family farm 12 miles west of Arcadia, near Ansley, Nebraska to Edgar and Mary Elizabeth (Twombley) Bose. He was raised on the family farm in the Clear Creek area and received his early education at a country school, attended Arcadia High School to the 11th grade; then graduated from Loup City High School in 1959.
Following high school Alvin moved to Arizona where he drove a wrecker and learned the Body and Fender trade. On June 3, 1961, Alvin married Muriel Cate. To this union two daughters were born, Teresa and Cynthia.
In 1967, Alvin returned to Nebraska. The family lived in St. Paul where Alvin purchased and operated Ken’s Body Shop. Later Alvin and his daughter, Teresa settled in Ord. Alvin worked at Warner’s Body Shop and also was a Deputy for the Howard County Sheriff’s Department in the 70’s and 80’s. Following his retirement Alvin and his nephew, Marty Sell ran a tree cutting business.
Alvin enjoyed tinkering in his shop, fixing things; and was always available to help others.
He is survived by his two daughters, Teresa Vancura of Ord and Cynthia Hoffman of Derby, Kansas; grandchildren, Lindsey (Josh) Dzingle of Elba, Matthew Hoffman and Rachel Hoffman (Brock Fisher) all of Derby, Kansas; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Ralph and April Bose of Arcadia and Harold Bose of Palisade, a sister and brother-in-law, Nina and Don Griebel of Comstock; and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son-in-law, Dean Vancura.
