Nebraska State Patrol investigators have detained three individuals after uncovering improper interactions with inmates of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) throughout 2023.
On Monday, April 22, two NDCS employees from the Nebraska State Penitentiary were arrested. Abbey Fielder, 26, from Lincoln, faces charges including sexual abuse of an inmate, conspiracy to commit sexual abuse of an inmate, and unauthorized visitation or communication with a committed offender. Laura Schluckebier, 45, also from Lincoln, was charged with allowing a committed offender unauthorized communication and conspiracy related to such communications.
Nicole Carter, 47, from Lincoln, who is no longer an NDCS employee, was arrested at her current job for sexual abuse of an inmate and unauthorized communication with a committed offender.
All implicated face felony charges. Carter and Schluckebier are currently held at Lancaster County Jail, while Fielder was cited and released due to medical reasons. The investigation is still active.
