Evelyn R. Sueper, 93, of Ord passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024, with her family by her side while residing at Arbor Care Center in Ord, Nebraska.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2024; at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. Father Scott Harter will be the Mass Celebrant. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the Church. Evelyn Rae was born on July 9, 1930, on the family farm in Valley County, Nebraska to Adolph and Julia (Pokorney) Nevrivy. She attended District #69 Sunny Slope School and completed her education at District #34 Old Yale School. At the age of 14, Evelyn began working for the Cochran’s as a nanny to their two girls.
On September 29, 1948, she was united in marriage to Edward Bruha. To this union three children were born, Sharon, Sandra and Robert. Edward passed away at an early age in February of 1974. On April 8, 1978, Evelyn and Paul Sueper were married at Ord, Nebraska.
Evelyn and Paul made their home in Ord where she operated an interior/exterior painting and wallpaper business. Evelyn also was a waitress at the Ord Veterans Club for 29 years.
Evelyn donated many hours to the community; helping with the Red Cross and as a foster parent. She was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and was involved in the Altar Society. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary #7029.
Her hobbies included gardening, canning, sewing and caring for the beautiful flowers around her home. Her greatest joy in life was her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon and Myron Osentowski of Ord and Sandra (Mrs. Herb) Bruha of Burwell; a sister, Mildred Lewandowski of Loup City; 7 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Ed Bruha and Paul Sueper; a son, Robert Bruha; granddaughter, Denarae Bruha; brother, Jerry Nevrivy; son-in-law, Herb Bruha; and daughter-in-law, Karen Wadas.
