Eleanor Jo Lueck, 77, of Ord passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024, at Kearney, Nebraska.
Eleanor’s wishes were to be cremated. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2024; at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Father Scott Harter, Monsignor John Perkington and Father Mark Maresh will be the Mass Celebrants. Inurnment will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday prior to the Mass. The family has requested memorials gifts to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church or to the Donor’s Choice and prefer no plants or flower arrangements. Eleanor was born September 19, 1946, at Loup City, Nebraska to Joseph J. and Grace M. (Shepperd) Hruby. She was raised in the rural Comstock area and received her early education at Round Park Country School. Eleanor graduated from Ord High School in 1964.
Following high school Eleanor moved to Lincoln and worked in various capacities including; an auto parts receptionist, at a temporary employment service and as a transcriber for the VA Hospital.
She returned to rural Arcadia and was united in marriage to William A. “Bill” Lueck on March 27, 1967, at the Geranium Catholic Church west of Ord, Nebraska. The couple lived in Huntsville, Alabama while Bill was in the United States Army. The couple settled on a farm near Arcadia where they raised their five children.
Eleanor was a bookkeeper until her retirement in December of 2020. They have enjoyed living in Ord for the past 12 years.
Eleanor was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church where she was a member of the choir. She served on the Nebraska Farm Bureau Ag Promotion and Education Committee for two terms and was the secretary of the Sherman-Valley County Bureau for many years.
Eleanor’s hobbies included sewing, gardening and canning. She mostly enjoyed being with family, especially the grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 57 years, William of Ord; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Rhonda Lueck of Wentzville, Missouri and William James and Rebecca Lueck of Arcadia; three daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy Holcomb of Blair, Jodi and Kevin Bose of Arcadia and Karmin and Jason Hall of Bethalto, Illinois; 16 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; four brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Pat Hruby, Alan and Charlene Hruby, Pat and Vicky Hruby and Mike and Joyce Hruby; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Trish and Larry Wheeler and Janet Hruby.
She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Armin and Jeanette Lueck; and a niece, Brenda Hruby.
