Darcy was born into this world on April 14, 1951, at Ord, Nebraska to Don W. and Shirley Y. (Sample) Thompson; the oldest of four siblings.
Darcy graduated from Elba High School in 1969. She always had a passion for helping others and began her nursing career shortly after graduation. Darcy practiced nursing for 39 years and loved every second of her career. In an Employee of the month recognition, she quoted, “Enjoys being a nurse and taking care of people. The best part is seeing people get better and able to go home”.
While Darcy waitressed at Douthit’s Diner; Willie relentlessly tried acquiring her number. Darcy turned Willie down until after many months and finally gave in and went on a date with him. Darcy and Willis “Willie” Walter Cronk were united in marriage on June 25, 1972, at Cotesfield, Nebraska. The couple spent 45 joyful years together.
Darcy admired her family and spending time with all of them. She especially took pride in being an extraordinary grandma to her grandchildren; continuously bragging about her grandchildren to anyone she came across. Darcy was kind to everyone and was a wonderful person to be around.
Her hobbies included playing board games, attending activities, gambling trips with friends, family movie nights, and telling stories to her grandchildren. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
