Valerie Lynn (DeBolt) Herron, 53, of Ord, Nebraska entered the gates of heaven on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. Valerie passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family and friends following a courageous battle with cancer.
Valerie started out her life in an exceptional way, as she was the last child born into her family of ten and born on Valentine’s Day, 1970. The true sweetheart was born to Leo and Katherine (Seadore) DeBolt in Bassett, Nebraska. Valerie was a graduate of Rock County High School, class of 1988.
Valerie started her motherhood journey in 1990, when she welcomed her daughter Rickale (Kast DeBolt) Glover. She was united in marriage to Elwood Herron on October 29, 1994; at the Chapel of Pines in Long Pine, Nebraska and became a step mother to Kristina Worth. Together Valerie and Elwood welcomed three more children, Nicholas, Hannah and Hadassah.
Throughout her life she worked at Valley County Hospital, Arbys, Mid-Nebraska Individual Services and provided private home care for elderly members of the community in Ord. Of all the various jobs she worked, her passion was truly loving and caring for those around her. She truly enjoyed and made wonderful friends at each place. That was a special gift Valerie had; she could make people feel special because she was a person who truly cared about everyone she met.
In addition to being a loving mother, she was also a very proud Grandma to three granddaughters, Remington (12), Rory (7), and Rosie (2); and two grandsons, Asher (7) and Cooper (1). Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she made sure they knew how much she loved and adored them every moment she got.
Anyone who knew Valerie could tell you that she was strong in her faith and trust in The Lord. Valerie was a long time member of the Heartland Assembly of God in Ord where she once served as a Sunday School teacher and a VBS leader. She also volunteered as a camp counselor at Camp Lex Church Camp. She proudly professed her love for The Lord and shared The Gospel with anyone who would listen. Her faith carried her through her battle and we know she is enjoying her eternal reward in heaven.
