Caleb Pollard of Ord has been selected as the new Executive Director for Valley County Economic Development, the Ord Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Valley County Tourism Advisory Committee. Pollard led the organization from 2008-2013, when he left in 2013 to open Scratchtown Brewing Company in downtown Ord.
Pollard is no stranger to this role. For the past 18 months, Pollard has been working as an entrepreneur coach through University of Nebraska Extension for the central Sandhills’ region, which includes Valley County. He also has been engaged in freelance economic development work in a number of Central Nebraska communities.
“I’m excited to get the balling rolling here at VCED. I’ve learned a lot of valuable lessons as a business owner these past ten years. These past 18 months as an eCoach have been really enjoyable. I’ve met a lot of business owners across the Sandhills region and worked with a number of municipal partners in economic development as a result. I have had the opportunity to learn and watch what other successful communities are doing, and I’m excited to bring those lessons home. I’ve worked with a variety of Valley County businesses to support their goals and objectives, and I look forward to doing that in a larger capacity as economic development director. Ord and Valley County been a wonderful place to call home for my wife Christina and I, and we enjoy helping make a difference in our community.”
Pollard will start in the position officially 1/8/24. “This community has tremendous possibilities ahead of it and a proven track record of success. Ord and Valley County have been very good to my family, my business and business partners, and me. This is the best way I can help our communities thrive together, and I’m very excited to get started.”
