Elaine J. (Meyer) Bosworth passed away at the age of 89, on June 22, 2023, while residing at Country House Assisted Living in Kearney, Nebraska.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2023; at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Elaine’s son, Kevin will conduct the service. Inurnment will be in the Ord City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Dementia Society of America. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Elaine was born August 5, 1933, at home in Gosper County, Nebraska near the town of Bertrand. Elaine grew up on a farm and graduated from Bertrand High School in 1951.
Following high school she attended to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and graduated with a degree in education in 1955.
She got her first job teaching English in Nebraska City, where she met her future husband, Edward Bosworth. Edward and Elaine were married on July 4, 1958.
After their marriage they moved to Arcadia, where both were teachers. During this time, Edward and Elaine adopted 3 children. After the adoptions Elaine stayed home to care for the kids.
In 1967, the family moved to Ord. In 1972, once the kids were all in school, Elaine went back to work for the Service Unit in Mid-Nebraska as a speech pathologist. During this time she traveled to all the area schools around and including Ord. In 1980, she started working for Ord Public Schools full time. At this time she was still the speech pathologist for the district and also began working with pre-school special education. Elaine retired from Ord Public Schools in 1994.
During Elaine’s time in Ord she was very active at Bethany Lutheran Church. At home she loved gardening, growing flowers, baking, and later helping care for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid reader and always liked a good martini.
Survivors include a daughter, Sue Fitzgerald of Kearney; a son, Kevin Bosworth of Olathe, Kansas; grandchildren, Aaron (Lisa) Johnson of Colorado, Cassie (Aaron) Johnson of Kearney, Connor Bosworth of California, and Nicholas (Emily) Bosworth of Arkansas; and great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Bladen, Declan, and Isabella all of Kearney.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward Bosworth; her daughter, Jone Bosworth; two brothers; and two brothers-in-law.
