Marvin J. Lukesh, 84, of Ord passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at the Arbor Care Center in Ord following a brief illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2023; at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. Father Scott Harter will be the Celebrant. Burial will be in the Ord Bohemian Cemetery. Military Honors will be presented by the Ord VFW Post #7029 and American Legion Post #38. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the family. Marvin was born February 11, 1939, at Sargent, Nebraska to Eldon F. and Elma E. (Klanecky) Lukesh. He was raised on the family farm northeast of Sargent and received his early education at Phillisburg east of Sargent then graduated from Sargent High School in 1957.
Marvin farmed and ranched with his parents northeast of Sargent. He served in the National Guard from 1959 to 1964. He was a Sergeant in the Engineer Unit and Artillery Unit out of Broken Bow.
On January 31, 1975, Marvin was untied in marriage to Carolyn K. Burson at Ord, Nebraska. To this union, two sons were born, Lannie and Robert. In 1984, the family settled west of Ord. Marvin did custom farm work for local farmers and drove the school bus for Ord Public Schools for ten years.
His memberships included Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and the Elks Lodge.
Marvin enjoyed being outdoors; hunting, fishing and feeding and watching the birds. He also tinkered and restored John Deere Tractors; and played a lot of cards.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Carolyn; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lannie and Sara and Bobby and Charlene; a granddaughter, Julie Marie; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Eleanore and Joe Kliment and Bonnie Lukesh; family members of Carolyn; and many friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and parents-in-law, LeRoy and Maxine Burson.
