Earlier this month hundreds of heads of cattle were seized from a property in Lincoln County after deputies discovered that 150 cattle were dead and that over 1,000 were sick and dying from neglect. The property that the cattle were found on belonged to Larry and Matthew Mikolockys. The 75-year-old father and 41-year-old son were arrested on animal cruelty and neglect resulting in death charges for the 150 dead cattle. The cattle that were still alive were seized and transported to the North Platte Stockyards and were auctioned off on Tuesday afternoon. Lincoln County Sheriff Jerome Kramer said that an estimated $117,000 was spent on feeding the living livestock while they stayed at the North Platte Stockyards.
