Stanley R. Urbanovsky, 81, of Ord formerly of St. Paul passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at Arbor Care Center in Ord.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 3, 2023; at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. The Mass Celebrants will be Father Scott Harter and Father Vincent L. Parsons. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Ord Memorial Chapel on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Deacon Neil Baquet. Memorials are suggested to the Family’s Choice. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Stanley Richard was born March 6, 1941, on the family farm in Garfield County, Nebraska to Joseph W. and Mary (Bruha) Urbanovsky. As a young boy the family moved to farms south of Burwell. This is where Stanley grew and attended rural schools, District #49 and District #32, and then graduated from Burwell High School in 1960.
Following high school Stanley farmed and ranched with his father. In 1965, Stanley was united in marriage to Marlene Koncel at Elyria, Nebraska. The couple made their home on the family farm south of Burwell where they farmed, ranched and raised their family of three boys and two girls.
While on the farm, Stanley was most proud of his Hereford Cattle. He belonged to the American Hereford Association and was recognized for Superior Performance Herefords. Stanley was an accomplished accordion player and had his own band from 1973 to 1979. He continued to entertain residents in local nursing home for many years.
Marlene passed away on July 2, 1990; Stanley then lived in the Sargent, Ord, Greeley and St. Paul areas.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Burwell, Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church of St. Paul, Knights of Columbus; and had served on the Country School Board. Stanley enjoyed target shooting and also was an avid horseman and horse trainer.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley Joe and Cindy of Arnold, Johnny and Angie of Burwell and Jimmy and JoAnn of Elyria; two daughters and a son-in-law, Janeane Spilinek and her friend, Jeffrey Shaul both of Lincoln, and Janet and Allen Vavra of Elyria; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three brothers-in-law, Larry Koncel, Eugene Michalski and Paul Wadas; and his special friend, Marie O’Gorman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marlene; a son, Eddie; two sisters, Olga Michalski and Blanche Wadas; and family friend, Carol Bilka.
