Grand Island Police responded to a report of shots fired on Christmas Day. 26-year-old Isaac Aragon was on Sunday morning at 410 E First St where the incident happened and was believed to be drunk, intoxicated, or reacting to a mixture of prescription drugs and alcohol in his system at the time the incident occurred. Witnesses of the incident said the Aragon woke up believing that someone had broken into the house even though that was untrue and began firing a weapon. Witnesses present at the time included a woman and a child. While firing the gun a bullet struck the frame of the door to the child’s room, he also fired one shot as officers were arriving at the scene. Aragon emerged from the residence with his gun in hand but cooperated with police when told to drop the weapon. No one was injured in this incident but Aragon was charged with unlawful/intentional discharge of a firearm, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, intentional child abuse, and criminal mischief.
