Authorities have released more details on a crash that killed two people on Highway 30 near Grand Island. The Merrick County Sheriff’s says that emergency crews were dispatched to a part of US Highway 30 about a half of a mile eat of Gunbarrel Road at around 6:50 p.m. on Sunday. A release says that 39-year-old Dustin Geier of Columbus and 18-year-old Brady Buechter of Belgrade both died at the scene of the accident. Four other occupants of vehicles sustained non-life threatening injuries and were taken to a Grand Island Hospital. The Sheriff’s Office said that Buechter was the only one not wearing a seat belt and that they do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors that caused the accident. The accident is still under investigation by the Merrick County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Nebraska State Patrol advanced accident reconstruction team.
