Dennis J. Miller, 72, of Ord passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022; at his home in Ord with his loving family by his side.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 12, 2022; at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ord. Pastor Mark Middendorf will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Visitation will be held in the Family Life Center at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Family’s Choice. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Dennis James Miller was born August 4, 1950 at Wayne, Nebraska to James “Jim” and Arlene (Hinnerichs) Miller. He spent his childhood in Lincoln where he attended Calvary Lutheran School and graduated from Northeast Rockets in 1968.
Dennis was a member of the Army National Guard from 1970 to 1976, during the Vietnam War Era. In 1979, Dennis began his career in Law Enforcement. He spent his 36 years of service in the police force at Milford, Ainsworth and Ord; retiring in April of 2012. As a police officer Dennis was proud to be the D.A.R.E. Program Instructor. He also drove a truck for many years and especially enjoyed driving for Dennis Fauss.
Dennis was married to Loretta Grant; this couple had two children, Jason and Amber. Later he and Sally Davis were blessed with Jamie. On September 24, 1994, Dennis and Janette Trobee were united in marriage at Ainsworth, Nebraska, to this union Brooke and Bandy were born.
Dennis had a passion for horses and rodeoing. His favorite was team roping; earning the IPRA Buckle in 1990. He was an avid outdoorsman; spending time camping, fishing and hunting. Dennis was a storyteller and also loved to poke fun with his grandkids, seeing who could tell the tallest tale.
Survivors include his wife, Janette Miller of Ord; two sons, Jason Miller (Angie Kunnemann) of Brainard and Bandy Miller of Ord; three daughters, Amber Miller (Steve Anderson) of Ord, Brooke Miller (Kipp Hewitt) of Burwell and Jamie Davis (Josh Kaech) of Wakefield; six grandchildren, Shelby, Nathan, Zane, Cole, Cheyenne and Nevada; a great-grandchild, Swade; an expectant great-grandchild, Judson; a sister, Nancy Jo Barryman (Bill) of Kansas City, MO; a brother, Doug Miller (Diane) of Eagle; his parents-in-law, Bud and Ruth Trobee of Johnstown; and a host of relative and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and an aunt, Helen.
