Robert J. “Bob” Korth, 90, of Greeley passed away at his home in Greeley on August 14, 2022.
Graveside Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 22, 2022; at the Greeley Cemetery. Pastor Mark Middendorf will conduct the service. Military Honors will be presented by Charles E. Martin American Legion Post #186. Memorials are suggested to the Family’s Choice. T.J. Finn and Sons Funeral Home of Greeley is in charge of arrangements.
Robert John was born August 2, 1932, on the family farm by Pierce, Nebraska to Elmer A. and Esther H. (Koeppe) Korth. He was raised on the family farm and received his education at Shady Bend Country School and graduated from Pierce High School in 1950.
On April 5, 1953, Bob was united in marriage to Elizabeth Ann “Beth” Riessen at the Riessen Farm near McLean, Nebraska. While Bob served in the United States Army the couple resided in Fort Riley, New Jersey and Louisiana. In 1955, following his service in the Army, the couple returned to Nebraska and resided on farms near Pierce County and Pilger.
After Bob completed management training they moved to North Bend, Scotia and Broken Bow. Bob worked for many years as a manager at Farmer’s Co-op and Fertilizer. He was the manager of Spalding Co-op of Greeley until his retirement in 2004.
Bob was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Scoita; Central Nebraska Antique Tractor Club and the American Legion.
In his younger years Bob and Beth enjoyed camping and fishing. Bob was a talented carpenter and mechanic. Following his retirement he restored antique and classic cars and pick-ups then he changed to restoring Farmall antique tractors.
Bob’s passion was his family and spending time with the grandkids and great-grandkids.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jan and LeAnn of Lincoln and Jamie and Samantha of St. Paul; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jill and Mike Powers of Broken Bow and Jodi and Bill Thompson of St. Paul; a daughter-in-law, Moby Korth of Greeley; 13 grandchildren; 1 expectant grandchild; 28 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Daws of Milford.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Beth who passed away on April 30, 2011; a son, Jim Korth; brother and sister-in-law, Willard and Joyce Korth; sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Bob Brown; and brother-in-law Dick Daws.
