W. Dale Huebner, 78, of North Loup passed away on June 22, 2022, at his home in North Loup.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2022; at the Mira Valley Evangelical United Methodist Church south of Ord. Pastor D. Scott Smith will officiate. Memorials are suggested to the Mira Valley Evangelical United Methodist Church or Donor’s Choice. Private Inurnment will be in the Hillside Cemetery at North Loup. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Walter Dale was born January 6, 1944, on the family farm south of Ord, Nebraska to Walter and Helen F. (Lee) Huebner. He was raised in the Mira Valley area until moving to the Lee Family Farm. Dale received his education at District #9 Mira Valley and graduated from North Loup High School in 1962. He continued his education at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and received a Bachelor Degree and Master’s Degree.
Upon his college graduation, Dale began his teaching career at Ord High School and remained there until his retirement. He continued as a Substitute Teacher at Ord, Central Valley in Greeley and Elba Public Schools until spring of 2022.
Dale was a member of the Mira Valley Methodist Church where he served in many offices and sang in the Choir. He belonged to the Valley Harmonizers Barbershop Group and was looking forward to singing the National Anthem at the first Husker game this fall. Dale was an avid Husker fan and held season tickets from the time of graduation to present; rarely missing a game.
Dale was a very active member of the Elks Lodge and served twice as Exalted Ruler.
Dale will be remembered as a great brother, uncle and friend. He loved a challenging game of 500 Rummy and a friendly argument.
Survivors include a sister, H. Joyce Grim of Dannebrog; a brother, David Lee Huebner of Jewell, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Carol Louise; brothers-in-law, Rayburn Johnson and Melvin Grim and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Huebner.
