A man was arrested Thursday after he admitted that he was under the influence of drugs while driving two child around in his vehicle, Grand Island Police said. Around 4:41 p.m. an officer found a man passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle around Broadwell Avenue and College Street. The officer observed a child that was hanging out the driver’s window. After waking the driver he admitted that he had taken fentanyl while traveling from St. Paul to Grand Island with the two children. The driver was given a sobriety test and this showed officers that he was under the influence of drugs. During the search of the vehicle officers also found meth and marijuana. The driver was arrested on suspicion of two counts of felony child abuse, possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.
