Dann Warren Wagner, 83, of Burwell, Nebraska died April 9, 2022 at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.
Dann was born in Burwell, Nebraska on September 22, 1938, to Bernard “Tiny” and Glenrose (Webster) Wagner. He was raised and lived most of his life in Burwell, Nebraska.
Dann graduated from Burwell Senior High in 1956 and attended Kearney State College from 1956-1957. He returned to Burwell and worked for the Burwell Livestock Sale Barn as a Yard Supervisor for 27 years. He also served as Loup County Commissioner and on the Region 26 Board from January 1991 to December 2006.
Dann was an avid fisherman throughout his entire life. He enjoyed hunting as well. There are way too many “fish” stories to tell, but Dann sure did tell them all! Dann was also a LOVER of life, finding joy with family and friends. He was the life of the party! The farm was his happy place, surrounded by many birds, a few cats, dogs, and even a llama at one point.
Dann is survived by his wife, Sonja (Sintek) Wagner of 39 years, sister Rosemary (Lyle) Hunt, of Lincoln, Nebraska. Three stepchildren, Kimberli Stine (Jesse Sanchez) of Burwell, Nebraska, Craig (Yang) Stine of Ricon, Georgia, Doug Stine of Burwell, Nebraska. Also survived by four Grandchildren, Ben (Rachel) Appleby of Carrollton, Georgia, Jessica (Geoff) Bokish of Arcadia, Nebraska, Chelsea Appleby of Tamarac, Florida, and Kandice (Morgan) Proctor of Holly Springs, North Carolina. Seven Great Grandchildren, Elizabeth, Abigail, Amara, Cole, Jamison, Joel and Magnolia. Also, many nieces and nephews.
Dann was proceeded in death by his parents, Tiny and Glenrose Wagner, brothers, Jimmy & Bernard “Tuffy” and sister, Barb Cone.
Memorials can be given to the Loup County Ambulance Service or the United Methodist Church.
A memorial visitation will be held at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell, Nebraska from 5 – 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2022.
