Donald Ray was born December 17, 1955, at Burwell, Nebraska to Leonard and Betty (Hansen) Moudry. His early childhood was spent on the family farm north of Burwell until his family moved to a farm west of Ord near Comstock. Don received his education at Vinton Rural School and graduated from Ord High School in 1974. He continued his education at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
On May 24, 1975, Don was united in marriage to Maggie Bruha at Ord, Nebraska. The couple lived west of Ord where Don farmed and also drove the school bus. In 1985, they moved into Ord with their two boys, Jason and Ryan. Don began working at K&K Appliance; delivering propane to local farmers. Don worked for the City of Ord until 1993, when he was injured on the job.
Don returned to college and earned a degree from Hastings Community College in computer technology. Don and Maggie owned and operated the Ord Laundromat and cleaned local businesses for many years.
Don was a farmer at heart. He enjoyed the outdoors and caring for the animals. Throughout his life he was involved in many aspects of farming including his time spent on the Felton Farm, Jackson Farm and working at the Valley County Fair Grounds.
Don enjoyed gardening, canning and playing cards. With his love of the outdoors he spent time with his boys and grandchildren fishing and hunting deer. He was proud of his family, especially the grandchildren; and enjoyed attending all of their activities.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Maggie of Ord; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jason and Bri of Ord and Ryan and Ashlee of Sutton; five grandchildren, Allie, Grady and Chance Moudry and Emma and Abbigail Moudry; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Janice and Dan Shultz of Grand Island, and Sharon and Craig Brown of Columbus; and a host of family and friends.
