
Betty Jean Green, 89, of Ord passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at Arbor Care Center in Ord, Nebraska.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2022; at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Del Hamon will officiate. Private Family Interment will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Ord Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department or the Alzheimer’s Association. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Betty Jean was born October 17, 1932, in Ord, Nebraska to Chris and Lovern (Orcutt) Kirby. She was raised in Ord and graduated from Ord High School in 1950.
On June 15, 1952, Betty was united in marriage to Harlan Green at Ord, Nebraska. The couple spent their entire married life in Ord where they raised their four children.
Betty worked at the REA until the fall of 1950. She was a stay at home mom until 1970, when she began driving the school bus for Ord Public Schools. Following her retirement in 1989, she worked at the Donut Shop and Alco. Mr. Green passed away on September 29, 2011. Betty continued to make her home in Ord, later residing at Grandview Assisted Living and Arbor Care Center.
Betty was a member of the Rebekah’s Lodge. She enjoyed flowers, birds, sewing and embroidering. With her love of flowers, Betty was instrumental in the coordination of the floral displays at the Valley County Fair. The couple spent time traveling and Betty also enjoyed “junk jaunting”.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Anneke Green of Ord; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Cindy and Del Hamon of Torrington, WY, Barbara and Bernie Glos of Ord and Ellen and Brent Parriott of Bayard, NE; 7 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 11 step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harlan; an infant daughter, Bethene Green; two infant grandchildren; and a brother, Bill Kirby.
