Katholeen “Kathy” Ann Studnicka, 73, of North Loup died Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 29, 2021; at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. Father Scott Harter will be the Celebrant. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel. As per the family’s request facial masks are highly suggested at the Visitation and Mass. Ord Memorial Chapel in Ord is in charge of arrangements.
Katholeen was born April 27, 1948, in Callaway to Harry James and Marie Katherine (Lynch) Leibhart. She was raised on a farm southwest of Broken Bow with her two brothers, Jim and Duane. She attended country school at Cottage School near the family’s farm. She graduated from Broken Bow High School with the class of 1966, where she made many dear friendships that lasted her entire life.
Kathy lived in Holdrege for almost 20 years, working at the Elks Club, Gambles, Halvorson Furniture and Pamida, retiring in 2000.
Katholeen married Don Studnicka on Jan. 16, 1993. The two enjoyed many fishing trips, camping trips, card games, family gatherings, and relaxing at their cabin on the North Loup River near Burwell. Kathy enjoyed gardening, traveling with her family, hiking with her brother in Utah and cheering on her favorite swimmer. Her fried chicken, aebleskivers, fish fry and pies were much-requested family favorites.
Survivors include her husband, Don; daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Jim Slosiarek of Walford, Iowa; son, David Bowers of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Nate Jones of Lingle, Wyo., and Kim and Mark Bernt of Kimball; stepson, Dean Studnicka of Crawford; grandchildren, Katie Slosiarek of Walford, Iowa, Tia Morris of Merino, Colo., Drew Jones of North Platte, Heather Jones of North Platte, Caleb Studnicka of Crawford, Katrina Studnicka of Chadron, Tawny Garrett and Tori Bernt of Grover, Colo., Trisha Bernt and Taylor Bernt of Kimball; 8 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Sallie Leibhart of Adel, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Sharon Mariska, of Lincoln, NE; many beloved cousins; and her cat, Frisky.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, James Leibhart.
