Everett A. Lech, 88, of Ord passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at the Grand Island Regional Medical Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 2, 2021; at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. Father Scott Harter and Father Mark Maresh will be the Celebrants. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Military Honors will be presented by the Ord VFW Post #7029 and American Legion Post #38. The family will greet friends on Monday beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Church. The Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. Memorials are suggested to the Loup Valley Veterans Wall or the Ord Avenue of Flags. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Everett, the son of John Frank and Gertrude Ann (Shotkoski) Lech was born November 3, 1932, at Ord, Nebraska. He was raised on the family farm north of Elyria and received his early education at Elyria School then graduated from Ord High School in 1950.
Everett served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1955. He returned to the family farm following the service. On June 4, 1957, he was united in marriage to Ruth J. Wozniak. The couple made their home on the farm near Ft. Hartsuff. Everett farmed and ranched his entire life.
The couple moved into Ord in 1988. Ruth passed away on April 24, 2007. For the past several years Everett has made his home in Ord and has enjoyed spending time with his companion, Pat VanWinkle.
He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Ord VFW Post #7029 and American Legion Post #38. Everett had a passion for his cattle and livestock auctions. Everett and Ruth were avid Polka dancers, traveling all over to festivals, including a several trips to Czechoslovakia.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Bradley and Crystal Lech of Burwell; two granddaughters, Ashley and Royce Weeks of North Loup and Kimberly Wysocki of Grand Island; two great-grandchildren, Lakin and Hadley Weeks of North Loup; his significant other, Pat VanWinkle of Ord; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Leonard of Elyria, Rolland and Eileen of Denver, Colorado and Marvin and Nancy of Omaha; and a brother-in-law, Darrell Roberts of Elkhorn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth; a grandson-in-law, Brenton Wysocki; two sisters, Sylvia Roberts and Lillian Maciejewski; and a brother, Roman Lech.
