Arden L. Davis, 79, of Scotia passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at the CHI St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 17, 2021, at the North Loup Seventh Day Baptist Church. Pastor D. Scott Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery at North Loup. Military Honors will be presented by the Ralph R. Rich American Legion Post #285 of North Loup. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Seventh Day Baptist Church Camp Riverview. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Arden Lovell was born May 22, 1941, at Ericson, Nebraska to Aubrey B. and Ella F. (Williams) Davis. He spent his childhood in the North Loup area, attending the Hillside Valley County School District #46 and graduated from North Loup-Scotia High School in 1960.
In December of 1960, Arden joined the United States Army. He received Basic Training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri and was stationed at Ft. Lewis, Washington. On May 13, 1962, Arden was united in marriage to Janice M. Scott at the Seventh Day Baptist Church in North Loup, Nebraska. They lived in Tacoma, Washington for over a year until Arden was honorably discharged from the Army in December of 1963.
The couple returned to North Loup where they resided and raised their family of four. Arden worked in various capacities throughout his life, mostly in agriculture and for area farmers. He and his brother, Rollie operated a Dairy Farm and farmed and he also worked at Leonard Equipment at Loup City. The majority of his working life was spent as a traveling feed salesman for MoorMan’s Feed Company and then at the North Loup COOP until his retirement.
In 1990, the couple settled in Scotia. Arden’s biggest accomplishment was caring for his wife, Janice for over 19 years until her time of passing on February 20, 2018.
Arden was a member of the North Loup Seventh Day Baptist Church and the Ralph R. Rich American Legion Post #285.
Arden and Janice enjoyed camping and traveling to Bluegrass festivals. He was an avid fisherman, making Canada one his most memorable fishing trips with his sons. Arden watched all Nebraska sports and was a huge fan of Nebraska Volleyball. He was very proud of his yard and enjoyed mowing and caring for the garden.
Arden will be remembered as a very kind and considerate man. He was always concerned about the wellbeing of others and what was going on in their lives.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Jonna and Jeff Sich of Ord and Sandra and Jason Wentz of Rifle, Colorado; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Karl and Rhonda Davis and Doug Davis all of Sargent; fourteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four expectant great-grandchildren; and one brother and three sisters-in-law, Rolland and Kay Davis of McCool Junction, Karen Sharp of Broken Bow and Shirley Davis-Poole of Millsap, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janice; a brother, Curt Davis; a sister and two brothers-in-law, Eulala and John Williams and Jim Sharp; and four great-grandchildren.
