Peggy Jean Westover, 79, of Burwell, Nebraska died April 19, 2021 at Bryan East Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 23, 2021 at the Burwell Baptist Church in Burwell, Nebraska. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell. Pastor Joel Wentworth will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 â 7 p.m. on Thursday at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell. Memorials are suggested to youth ministry at the Burwell Baptist Church.
Peggy was born August 29, 1941 in Paragould, Arkansas to William and Dorothy Swartz. She lived with her family while her dad was in the service in Germany. This is where she met Troy Westover. They were married September 5, 1959 in Chambers, Nebraska.
They lived south of Burwell where they ranched. They moved northeast of Burwell in 1981. Peggy was also a Paraprofessional at the Burwell Public School for over thirty years. Troy died December 9, 2019.
Peggy was always active in staying in touch and helping with all the school kids with their sporting activities and seeing that they were cared for. She enjoyed crafts and was a camp counselor. She was a member of the Burwell Baptist Church and the Good News Club.
Peggy is survived by three sons, Ty and Bert Westover of Lincoln, Nebraska, Les and Tess Westover of Grand Island, Nebraska and Todd and Kathy Urbanek Westover of Mitchell, Nebraska. Five grandchildren, Nicolby and Bryce Petersen, Luke Westover, Troy âTJâ and Dani Westover, Alessa Westover and Leah Urbanek and three great-grandchildren, Rory Petersen, Archer Petersen and Tera Westover. A brother, Rex and Jan Swartz of DuPont, Washington. Two sisters, Carol and Michael Leeper of Fort Mohave, Arizona and Retha and Mike Petersen of Cody, Wyoming and a sister-in-law, Sue Swartz of Tacoma, Washington.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother, Vaughn Swartz.
