Carolyn Kay Zikmund, 76, of rural Ord passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.
Mrs. Zikmund’s wishes were to be cremated. A Private Family Celebration of Life and Inurnment in the Ord City Cemetery will take place. In honor of Carolyn, family and friends are invited to a reception on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. at the Ord Veterans Club. Memorials are suggested to the Family’s Choice. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Carolyn Kay was born February 19, 1944, at Ord, Nebraska to Alvin and Clara (Trompke) Wells. She was raised in Ord and graduated from Ord High School in 1962.
Following high school Carolyn worked at Lee’s Store in Ord. On June 6, 1965, she was united in marriage to James Zikmund at Ord, Nebraska. The couple made their home on the Zikmund Farm east of Ord where they raised their family.
Carolyn enjoyed the farm life, watching and feeding birds; and gardening and mowing. She was an avid reader and shopper. She also sewed and belonged to a bowling team in Burwell. Her biggest joy was her grandkids.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Jim of rural Ord; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lisa Akovi of Scotia and Karin and Steve Skopec of Stuart; five grandchildren, Heather Perkins, Samantha Bloom, Tony Hruza, Sarah Esterling and Christopher Bures; four great-grandchildren; two expectant great-grandchildren; a brother and two sisters-in-law, LeRoy and Jan Wells of Grand Island and Ruth Wells of New York.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Jamie Zikmund; and a brother, Vernon Wells.
