Marvin H. Mohr, 91, of Ord passed away on Friday, February 19, 2021, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ord. Pastor Adam Archer will officiate. Military Honors will be presented at the church by the Ord VFW Post #7029 and American Legion Post #38. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Luckow Cemetery at Breda, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Monday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel. The family will not be present. Memorials are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church or the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
For the health and safety of others social distancing and face masks are required for those attending the funeral.
Marvin was born April 2, 1929, on the family farm near Breda, Iowa to Elmer and Elise (Schmidt) Mohr. He was raised on the farm and attended country school and two years of high school at Auburn. When his two brothers were drafted into WWII, Marvin quit school to help on the farm.
In January of 1951, Marvin was drafted into the United States Army. He served during the Korean War and was discharged in October of 1952. Following the service he returned to the family farm.
On March 9, 1958, Marvin was united in marriage to Ruth Bauer at the Zion Lutheran Church in Auburn, Iowa. To this union four children were born. They farmed in the Breda, Iowa area for 25 years. In 1983, they moved to a farm near Ord, Nebraska. Marvin farmed for a few years and worked in various capacities unitl his retirement.
Marvin was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth of Ord; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wesley and Marilyn Mohr of Breda, Iowa and Virgil and Carol Mohr of Ft. Collins, Colorado; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Jon Nelson of Omaha and Janis and Bob Blevins of Stapleton; ten grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Mohr of Odebolt, Iowa and Ruth Mohr of Sac City, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Wilbert, Hubert and Wayne Mohr; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Edna and Donald Buse and Verna and Bob Perry.
